HISTORIC CROYDON AIRPORT TRUST ARCHIVE

The Croydon Airport archive has been steadily developed since the inception of the Croydon Airport Society in 1978. Growth of the archive increased rapidly from 2000 when the opportunity arose to lease two large rooms in the former Grade II listed Gate Lodge adjacent to Airport House. The archive records the history and development of Britain’s first major international airport, in all its guises, and the associated people, events and organisations that were a key part in launching international air travel. Not only does the archive chart the 44 active years of Croydon Airport, it also charts the rise of commercial aviation in the UK.

The Archive contains over 100,000 documents, 10,000 images, videos and artefacts. It has great research value and has been used extensively by the BBC, National Geographic and numerous authors.

We welcome donations to the archive of all items relating to the history of Croydon Airport.

We do ask that any requests for information from the archive are accompanied by a financial donation to the Trust. Thank you.
