PRIVACY POLICY FOR HISTORIC CROYDON AIRPORT TRUST

This privacy policy sets out how Historic Croydon Airport Trust uses and protects any information that you give our charity when you use this website or are in any other communication with us.

Historic Croydon Airport Trust is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. This policy describes the ways we collect information and what we may use it for. Should we ask you to provide certain information by which you can be identified, then we assure you that it will only be used in accordance with this privacy statement and your rights under data protection law.

What we collect: We may collect the following information,

  • name and address
  • other contact information including email address
  • demographic information such as postcode, preferences and interests
  • other information relevant to our supporters, visitors and website users

We may sometimes collect information about you from third parties, for example from referees or past employers if you are applying to be a volunteer with us. Sometimes, when you contact us by telephone, post or email, a record will be created of that correspondence.

We may also hold photographs taken at Open Days or Group Visits so, if you do not wish to be photographed, please ensure the photographer is aware.

What we do with the information we gather: We will use this information for the following reasons,

  • To administer your membership as a Friend of our charity, including Gift Aid declarations
  • For volunteer management to administer events, including the Visitor Centre Open Days
  • For newsletter mailings and details of relevant events
  • For fundraising appeals
  • We may periodically send promotional mailings (including email) about events, new retail products or other information which we think you may find interesting, using the contact information which you have provided
  • We may use the information to customise the website according to your interests and feedback, and to notify you about changes to our website service and policies.

How long we hold information for:

  • For Friends of our charity, personal details will be stored for the duration of your membership and for five years after your membership expires.
  • For Volunteers (including trustees), your personal details will be stored for as long as you are involved as a volunteer and for five years after your involvement ends. After that, we will dispose of your details securely.
  • For Visitors to Airport House, it is a condition of our lease that we collect basic details, either through our online booking system or on arrival, for security reasons. These details will be kept for two months after your visit, after which we will dispose of them securely.

Security:

We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.

Only our charity volunteers who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, updating membership records or responding to individual enquiries) are granted access to personally identifiable information.

Please note that all credit and debit card transactions associated with visitor donations, Friends’ subscriptions and retail sales are handled by payment agencies such as PayPal and SumUp, so we do not hold your card details.

We do not, and will not, distribute or sell your information to any third party.

Links to other websites:

Our website may contain links to enable you to visit other websites of interest easily. However, once you have used these links to leave our site, you should note that we do not have any control over that other website. Therefore, we cannot be responsible for the protection and privacy of any information which you provide whilst visiting such sites and such sites are not governed by this privacy statement. You should exercise caution and look at the privacy statement applicable to the website in question.

Your rights:

You have rights under data protection law to access and correct your information, to tell us that you do not want to receive marketing information, and to object to our processing of your personal information in certain circumstances. You also have the right to withdraw your consent to the use of your information, to the extent that such use is based on your consent.
